May & Alastair get married at St Nicholas Church, Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire
For May and Alastair it was only after booking their wedding venue that they knew what they wanted and it wasn’t the venue they had chosen! As well as a change of venue they also had some unexpected weather.
May and Alastair knew they didn’t want a hotel or Manor House venue so opted for a lovely barn conversion in Warwickshire. They soon realised it was a beautiful venue but didn’t feel like them. Back to the drawing board it didn’t take long to find the perfect solution.
The Malt Shovel at Barston was a gorgeous gastro pub with incredible food and a beautiful barn conversion restaurant which offered the cosy, relaxed feel they wanted. They found a charming church in Henley-in-Arden for the ceremony so they were all set for the big day.
On the morning of the wedding the forecast included rain which wasn’t what they were expecting! Luckily they were well prepared for everything and had lots of large white umbrellas which were ideal for sheltering the bride getting to the church and made a fun twist to their confetti photos. The rain was perfect for encouraging guests to the wedding venue creating some lovely, intimate photos in the beautifully decorated Lych gate where May and Alastair had a romantic, quiet moment together.
The weather cleared up and the couple glided through the day all smiles with May looking stunning in a Jesus Peiro dress. There were delicious canapés and champagne on the terrace followed by an amazing meal in the barn restaurant. Afterwards the terrace became a dance floor with a brilliant band and dancing late into the night.
Changing venues and choosing the Malt Shovel at Barston was a fantastic decision creating the perfect wedding day May and Alastair has always wanted!
